This story is about a girl named Kenia Monge, 19, from Colorado. Kenia got separated from her friends and her cell phone in a local nightclub. Attempting to make her way back home, Kenia started walking on an eastbound sidewalk in downtown Denver. A "nice" looking young man in a white delivery van offered to give her a ride home. Instead, Travis Forbes, the "nice looking young man brutally attacked, raped and killed Kenia Monge. He then hid her body in a white, foam cooler for days before lying her to rest in a shallow grave in a wooded area outside of Denver.

This particular violent crime could have been prevented in more ways than one. Yes, she was 19 and in a nightclub illegally. Yes, she was walking alone, at night in downtown Denver. She had no purse, no phone and no money. But, what if Kenia would have had one of our bracelet pepper sprays? What if she had been carrying a ZAP stun gun on her wrist? I know it sounds minute, but this girls life could have easily been saved if she could have just gotten away from her attacker. Using her pepper spray, she could have blinded her attacker and caused him extreme pain. One blow, with a stun gun, to the head, neck or abdomen region for 3-5 seconds would have paralyzed her attacker long enough for her to escape.
But, instead, Travis Forbes was able to lure Kenie Monge into his van and kill her. Although Travis avoided police and lied his way out of conviction early on he would be would be charged with this murder and 2 more violent crimes in the end. Although "justice" has been served for the family and friends of Kenia Monge, it still does not replace the life of their beautiful, young daughter, sister and friend.

Please, protect yourself and the ones you love and care about. Such a small, inexpensive product could be a changing factor in a life or death situation. Remind your family and friends daily to always be aware of their surroundings. Don't become a statistic!
